Well, I eluded to building some steel cabinets like Jon in the earlier post, but I had a "situation" and needed to get something done quickly. My old shelf decided to depart the wall (on top of me, no less), so I sprung for some Gladiator cabinets that I bought off Amazon.com. They were fairly low-buck, and I got a break on shipping with Amazon Prime, and overall I am pleasantly surprised.
I mounted some hardwood 1x3s on the wall to the studs, then screwed these to the 1x3s. I used a floor jack to hold 'em up and level while I screwed them to the wall. They are steel, and I like the magnetic closing latch. I mounted a 18" flouro light under the recessed portion for a bench light, and we're back in biz.
Not US made, or home-built, but they solved a problem!

I like the diamond plate look of Gladiator. Plus it took you an afternoon. I've been at it for over a year...
All of my steel has gone off to powder coat. Now I I have to paint the walls and get ready for final assembly. It's slowly coming together. But the weather wa s beautiful today so I have the itch to start my project car...

Saw these pics online of Lateral-G.net founder Scott Gulbranson's garage. I like the idea of the overhead soffit / storage cabinets with the lighting!

Here is my man cave with the Race Deck Flooring. Definitely my safe haven from life's problems.
Had sheet rock installed and painted white. Black edging was put along the bottom of the walls. LED lights were put in and custom signs having to do with Pontiac autos were added. The lifts are provided by the owners of the complex.
Thanks,
Jim
The Dark Blue 1999 TA belongs to a friend. Had an open space until a GTO comes back from restoration.
