Disc brakes were not available back in 1962, so we’re retrofitting these onto the Buick with the help of some brackets from Scarebird Mechanical, and the remaining parts from RockAuto.com. Scarebird makes rake brackets to converts lots of ‘60s cars to disc brakes using factory components, and RockAuto is a great online parts resource. Click Read More for details and the video!

The transformation of Project Splitter begins with a quick mini-tub job to gain clearance for the larger rear tires, followed by a major overhaul of the front suspension. Splitter now sits on Global West tubular upper and lower control arms, QA1 coil-over shocks and springs, Baer brakes, CCW Wheels, and Toyo Tires.

Our 1965 Chevelle has a 10-bolt rear axle, and while preparing the housing for some detailing and upgrades, we show you how to remove "c" clip-style axles. This is handy if you're changing gears, differentials, or upgrading to disc brakes. It's a pretty simple trick.

We want the S71 Oldsmobile to have terrific handling on the street and on in road course and autocross events, so we chose to use the Negative Roll system from Global West for the suspension parts. The Negative Roll system utilizes taller spindles, tubular control arms, sway bars, and special springs to change the front suspension geometry and make a car that keeps the tires planted better when cornering. This is especially important when using new technology tires with large, flat contact patches. Braking is handled by a set of Baer rotors and calipers to bring this machine to a halt - repeatedly - with minimal fade and in short distances.

We've turned the corner on our 1965 Chevelle build, and we're finally starting to put the car back together. This time, we're re-assembling the newly painted chassis with a complete Hotchkis Total Vehicle System suspension package, along with some newly restored brake hardware and new brake and fuel lines.

Flaring lines for brakes and fuel systems can be a pain, and properly sealing double flared fittings are essential for safety. Traditional clamp-style flare tools can be tricky to master, often times creating imperfect double flares forcing you to re-bend a new line. However, we'll never have a bad flare again in our shop.. this Eastwood Professional double flare tool not only makes perfect double flares every time, but it's so easy to use, you could do it blindfolded. Really.

Our 1965 Chevelle project arrived in our shop with a front disc conversion, but we wanted the fade-free stopping power of 4-wheel disc brakes, so we added a rear disc brake kit from OPGI.

We're building this car to have awesome drivability, and we wanted to use components that could stand up to some occasional punishment. It's no secret that the Currie 9+ rear axle systems are up to the challenge. We already had the Boyd's Junk Yard Dog wheels and Nitto 555 tires, so we worked backwards and fit the rear axle to the car and wheels. In this case, we used a custom narrowed Currie housing loaded with a Nodular iron center section, 3.25:1 gears, a Detroit Truetrac differential, and 31 spline Currie axles. The Truetrac is a nice piece because it offers smooth, quiet operation, and locks automatically when needed. Once it was painted and installed, we added a Baer Track 13" rear disc brake kit. In front, we again used a Baer Track kit with 13" rotors and dual piston calipers for awesome stopping power. An Eastwood powder coated CPP master cylinder and stainless brake lines from Classic Industries round out the system.

In this video series, we're upgrading a 1969 Camaro SS 396 for better performance using an Edelbrock Top End Kit consisting of E-Street Heads, a RPM intake manifold, a mild street camshaft, and the required hardware and gaskets to put it all together. We're adding a Holley Street Avenger Aluminum 670 carburetor for fuel, and an MSD Digital E-Curve distributor for spark. The Camaro will breathe better with a dual MagnaFlow stainless exhaust system, and it will run smoothly on Royal Purple Break-In Oil and Max Gear transmission oil. We're also adding a Centerforce clutch for more grab. Under the car, we're detailing the subframe and suspension with Eastwood Underhood Black paint, and installing Global West Del-A-Lum bushings up front. A Baer Track disc brake kit is going on for better stopping power, and a Chassis Engineering front sway bar will help this car corer better. Follow along as we do all these mods in video.
