Fasteners need to be tightened properly to achieve the required clamping pre-load or your engine could have big problems down the road. In this video, we show you how to check the accuracy of your torque wrench, and explain the need for proper fastener lubrication to get an accurate "squeeze" on critical engine parts. ARP developed their Ultra-Torque assembly lubricant for this reason, as it allows fasteners to reach their target clamping force without the need for repeated torque cycles, it offers a high melting point to stay on the fastener, and it is non-metallic. The GM LS Engine is a super-popular swap candidate for many reasons, but they are not very attractive as-installed in their original cars. In this video, we show you some different LS style engines in the V8 Speed & Resto Shop and some things our crew did to make these versatile engines look as good as the Muscle Cars in which they are installed! Some of the tricks include using adapters to install traditional small-block parts like retro-looking Edelbrock Elite II valve covers and air cleaner on the 6 Liter V8 in the red 1965 Impala. We also show a ZR1-style LS9 installed in the ZR9 Camaro, the L92 V8 in the '64 C-10 pickup, and some Eastwood ceramic engine paint to keep them looking great.

Many Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Z06 and GS models built between 2006 and 2013 are equipped with a dry sump engine lubrication system.
This high-performance system operates differently than a standard engine lubrication system and requires a special procedure when checking the engine oil level.
When adding engine oil to these vehicles, care must be taken to avoid overfilling the system. Overfilling may cause over-pressurization, which may result in damage to the engine and emissions system components. Also, if the amount of engine oil in the system is unknown due to repairs or other causes, the entire system should be drained and refilled with the correct amount of engine oil.

DETROIT – The all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 is the most powerful production car ever from General Motors and one of a few production cars available in the United States that delivers more than 600 horsepower.
The Z06’s LT4 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine is SAE-certified at 650 horsepower (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque (881 Nm) at 3,600 rpm.
“The LT4 Small Block sets a new benchmark for power and torque at GM,” said Steve Kiefer, vice president, GM Powertrain Engineering. “The engine also puts the new Corvette Z06 on par with the most powerful supercars offered in America, while delivering performance with impeccable manners that make it suitable for daily driving.”

In this chapter of our S71 Olds build, we are completing the install of our Bullseye Power 75 mm turbo, our fabricated turbo piping, Bell intercooler , and the Be Cool Radiator . All of the exhaust tubing and turbine housing parts were coated by Extreme Powder Coating using their 2200° high temperature black ceramic coating to keep them looking new. The charge air tubing was painted with Eastwood's high temperature Nano Ceramic engine paint, which is a very durable paint suitable for parts reaching regular engine temperatures. The be cool radiator module encompasses a pair of Spal electric fans, and Be Cool guarantees it to cool engines up to 1000 HP. We installed a Turbo Smart Reaceport blow-off valve inline with the air intake to help keep the turbo spooled-up during shifts. To help reduce underhood air temperatures and to make our turbo system more efficient, we installed a DEI Titanium Turbo Shield , which is made from lava rock strands that can withstand temperatures over 1800°. We also wrapped our turbo exhaust with DEI Titanium Exhaust Wrap to keep the hot exhaust gas in the tubing and underhood temperatures down. A K & N air filter and various silicone connectors from IntakeHoses.com completed the intake tubing. In the coming chapters, we will complete the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex wiring system install and FAST Fuel Injection installs before firing up the S71 Olds!
